[Photo] Lt. Col. Virgil A. Leverett, Jr. (776).

Virgil A. Leverett, Jr., 776th

13 December 2006

Virgil A. Leverett was born 18 June 1919 in Joplin, Missouri. Virgil died on 13 December 2006 at the Veterans' Administration Hospital in Seattle, Washington.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gloria Leverett; daughter, Jenny Leverett; sons, Ernest, Fred, Hans and Karl Hilsenberg, as well as eight grandchildren.
Virgil served in the Army Air Force as a pilot and achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was a prisoner of war in Czechoslovakia during World War II. He continued to attend reunions with fellow P.O.W.s and to give educational talks about his military experiences for many years.
Virgil earned a degree in engineering and was employed by the Boeing Company.
After retiring from Boeing, Virgil enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing his guitar, musical keyboard and learning new skills on his computer.
One of his life dreams was to spend time in Alaska, which he did. Gone fishing! A "Celebration of Life," was held on 10 February 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Community Club in Seattle.
